Blog Journal #1
Hi. My name is David Jorrin. I am currently a junior at FSU majoring in History with a minor in education. I found a passion for history my first semester of college, with an introductory history class taught at my local college. After that I understood the importance and value of education as well as my interest in history.
In terms of my prior use of technology in education, there was not a substantial amount of technology used prior to college. Once I began college, my courses began being what is called "blended," which means that the classes in person are lectures or discussions and the paperwork for the classes as well as tests was done online. I became proficient in using PowerPoint and Word through giving presentations and writing essays. Once classes went completely virtual, I became more comfortable with attending lectures via recordings and doing my work almost completely on my own schedule.
My Personal Learning Network has expanded since I transferred to FSU. When I initially began college my PLN was exclusive to my teachers as well as my classmates. I did not often need the help from source outside the two because my teachers generally provided all materials for me. Once I started at FSU, I have maintained my relationships with past professors and they have often read through and helped me revise some essays for classes, as well as use the school library to find more research and resources on certain topics. Outside of academic learning all together, I consult my friends as well as websites like YouTube to teach me things about how to fix my car or new music to play on the saxophone.
Hey David, I agree with you when it comes to history. I believe because I have a pretty good memory it allows me to remember all these facts and makes history more interesting to me by tying things together. Maybe we'll see each other in a separate class due to the same major haha!
ReplyDeleteHey David, it is cool to see a junior in the class along with other older kids as I am a freshmen. That's great that you found you were interested in history starting college. It is strange to see that you didn't use too much technology in highschool like I did. It is probably cause you're older than me by a couple of year, I'm assuming. Great personal learning network though with professors and youtube!
