Blog Journal #10

I would like to use the survey tool when I plan to teach high school history to gauge how effective my teaching is. I would ask questions and make the surveys anonymous so they will not feel shy about saying something. I would also use this to gauge how well the students are doing mentally during the school year, because there are certain parts of the year that are really difficult for students and if my students are having a rough time I may alter my lesson plans to do something a little less mentally draining to give them a break while still providing them with assignments.

One of the topics I found interesting from reading my classmates blogs was their thoughts on the website design assignment. I found Weebly to be on the easier side in some aspects but some of my classmates found it rather difficult to use. I agree that I was not able to utilize Weebly to its full extent, but I was able to use more of it after I read their thoughts on it and I went back, and it made the site a lot more intuitive and it made the process flow easier.

I want to become proficient and implementing a clicker into my teaching so I do not need to be behind my laptop to change the slide every time I need to. Certain types of clickers allow for many different functions beyond just clicking through a PowerPoint, such as playing videos or drawing images on the screen. I plan to achieve this by doing research and then buying my own clicker and practicing with it along with watching some videos of people using them on YouTube to become proficient with it. This will allow me to be more interactive with my students and they can interact with the presentation, and when I ask my students to present their lectures, they will be able to use the clicker as well.

  1. Hi David!

I totally forgot about clickers used in the classroom, especially since we have been under online instruction for a while. I like the idea of using a clicker to guide students through a PowerPoint presentation, so I might follow your plan on that as well. I also agree on using the survey tool for engaging students on how our teaching is. I might use it for the end of the school year so I can improve and use for the upcoming new class for the next school year.

  2. Hey David! Loved that you mentioned clickers. I used to use them all the time for in-person classes for my first year. I thought it was a great way in integrate technology in the classroom. Surveys are important as a psychology major and education major because it allows for us to take in feedback to improve and build upon.
